Haller Park

Haller Park is one of Kenya's greatest environmental conservation success stories. Located in Bamburi, approximately 12 kilometers north of Mombasa City, the park was once a barren limestone quarry owned by Bamburi Cement. Through decades of restoration led by Dr. René Haller, it has been transformed into a flourishing ecological sanctuary and one of Mombasa's top tourist attractions.

Today, Haller Park covers over 75 hectares of forests, wetlands, grasslands, fish ponds, and nature trails, providing a safe habitat for a wide variety of wildlife. Visitors can walk along well-maintained paths while enjoying close encounters with free-roaming giraffes, giant tortoises, waterbucks, zebras, elands, hippos, crocodiles, monkeys, and numerous bird species.

One of the park's most popular experiences is the daily giraffe feeding session, where visitors can observe and feed the gentle Rothschild's giraffes under the supervision of trained guides. The park also features a crocodile enclosure, hippopotamus viewing area, butterfly pavilion, reptile exhibits, fish ponds, and an educational demonstration center highlighting conservation and ecological restoration.

Nature lovers can enjoy peaceful walking trails shaded by indigenous trees while learning about sustainable environmental management and biodiversity conservation. The park is also home to a variety of reptiles, insects, and small mammals, making it an excellent destination for photography, birdwatching, family outings, educational trips, and eco-tourism.
